What are some common toxic gases found in industry? Part2

 

 Carbon monoxide (commonly known as gas)

 

  Properties: colorless, odorless gas, slightly lighter than air

  Poisoning route: inhalation

  Symptoms: headache and dizziness, tinnitus and nausea, difficulty in breathing, weakness in the abdomen, drowsiness, coma, limb paralysis, and eventually death.

  Source of contamination: Fire or oxygen-deficient combustion in household stoves.

 

 Natural gas

 

  Properties: Colorless gas with a slight odor.

  Poisoning route: inhalation

  Symptoms: Headache, difficulty in breathing, weakness in the abdomen, unconsciousness, and eventually death.

  Source of contamination: Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks, natural gas pipeline leaks or well blowouts.

 
 Formaldehyde

 

  Properties: colorless and highly volatile liquid, its vapor has a pungent odor.

  Poisoning route: inhalation, eye irritation

  Poisoning symptoms: tearing, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, coughing and wheezing.

  Pollution source: volatilized from decoration materials and adhesives after house renovation
 

 Pesticide

 

  Properties: liquid, usually prepared with water and used, volatile, with a special odor

  Poisoning route: inhalation, eye irritation

  Symptoms of poisoning: blurred vision, chest tightness, headache, difficulty in breathing, sweating, incontinence and coma in severe cases.

  Source of pollution: volatilized into the air after use in farmland
